Chinese Calligraphy or is it?

Chinese characters painted in oil, watercolor, black ink and emulsion ingredients, lines and lines, layers and layers of them mostly on paper.  These are works by Tom Lee, a Columbia College graduate majored in photography. "Some of the imageries for these works were conceived while I was  sleep-thinking, dreaming, playing the viola or reading a book.  All of them are fanciful events", he says.

Tom, is a special artist whose mind is both highly emotional and logical, yet balanced.  According to him, he paints photographically and musically.  If that is not confusing and you can read Chinese, read his short article entitled "Is Chinese Calligraphy Art" in which he plays with setting standards for the meaning of Art, Fine Art and Chinese Calligraphy in the Chinese Calligraphy arena.
